Happy New Year!

My first gigs of 2020 will be with English concertina-master and multi-instrumentalist Rob Harbron. We are currently hatching plans to record a duo album together, but in the meantime you can catch us live at the following venues:

SAT JAN 18  Lansdown Hall & Gallery Stroud, United Kingdom

SUN JAN 19  Square Chapel Centre for the Arts Halifax, United Kingdom

FRI FEB 21  Music Room Liverpool, United Kingdom

Thanks to everyone who has supported my music in 2019. It was a great year: touring Fathoms and playing BBC live sessions with The Furrow Collective, performing with a whole host of my heroes at the Barbican for the Topic Records 80th birthday bash, teaching at Dartington Summer School and Halsway Manor, as well as settling into my new role as lecturer in Folk & Traditional Music at Newcastle University… As the winter drags on it’s good to remember a special International Women’s Day gig in Palma Mallorca with Lucy Farrell and Rachel Newton, or the balmy August heat of a packed Ham Marque at Sidmouth Festival, and the dreamy splendour of performing Dartington’s Great Hall with Rob Harbron. It was a joy to perform some special ‘home’ gigs in Liverpool, creating new musical settings to the poetry of Eleanor Rees with Mikey Kenney at two special poem-song concerts on the summer and winter solstices. Most nerve-wracking for me was dipping my toe into the world of solo performance, with my first official solo show at Walthamstow Folk Festival - luckily it felt worth the pre-gig nerves and I went on to enjoy supporting Martin Simpson later in the year. Collaboration is central to my love of music-making (and I’m excited to be developing new projects this year), but I’ll be embarking on more solo adventures in 2020 so watch this space for news of new shows and music.

Hope to see you along the road in 2020!

Emily
